Abstract
The technologies behind the Semantic Web is still a mystery to many. The goal of this tutorial is to give an overview of the main technical building blocks of the Semantic Web. After a general introduction the basic model of RDF is presented, including example for its serialization in XML and in Turtle. This is followed by an overview of the classification possibilities offered by RDF Schemas, and the query facilities of SPARQL. Then a brief overview is given on the main goals of OWL, its structure, and how it can be used with RDF. The tutorial also touches upon newer developments in the field and ends with a set of examples on products and applications of Semantic Web as used by companies.
