Intelligent web pages leading to new business

Daniel Hladky, Ontos International AG (CH)

Abstract

Can we create new business using semantic web technologies? This presentation will focus on the area of using semantic technologies to create intelligent web pages which will lead to new business.

The first part of the presentation is devoted to the creation of semantic metadata that can be easily integrated into existing web pages and be used immediately by search engines and projects like “SearchMonkey by Yahoo!”. Benefit for site owners using semantic Web standards is to enhance Yahoo! Search results, making them more useful, relevant and visually appealing.

The second part of the presentation is set on the semantic application examples including solutions for publishers and how to enrich navigation and browsing through content in order to keep users longer on the portal which will lead to more revenue. Further we will demonstrate how organizations can watch the competitive landscape in order to understand what they are doing or what people are thinking about the products or company by doing sentiment analysis. We all know that much information is spread through the web and a lot of time is wasted by aggregating this into useful content for better analysis and decision making support. The Ontos Semantic Framework integrates Semantic Web and Natural Language technologies to enhance knowledge acquisition. The key task is to automatically aggregate, merge and enhance information to meaningful knowledge. Better knowledge helps to build sustainable competitive advantage and new business.ay?
